Review: The Hike - Lucy Clarke

Review: The Hike - Lucy Clarke - Aprl 2023

I had seen this thriller talked about on Instagram and it sounded like something up my alley, seeing as I love and enjoy reading thrillers. Four friends embark on a hike in Norway, but only three will return home. Every year since college Maggie, Liz, Joni, and Helena have gone away for a holiday. They each take turns choosing the location and everyone goes along with the choice. This year is Liz's turn and she has chosen to hike a mountain in Norway. When Liz and Joni were in school, they did a project about Norway and dreamed of being amongst the mountains and now their dreams have come true. However, this trip will bring some feelings and unresolved issues to the surface that have been bubbling amongst friends. Maggie is worried about leaving her daughter with her now ex-husband, Helena has been masking her pain by sleeping with every man and his dog and now she has discovered that one of them impregnated her but which one? , Liz's marriage to her friends and family is viewed as perfect but for Liz and Patrick - the spark has vanished and they are drifting further apart and currently trialing a separation, and Joni- the rockstar of the group has been drifting from one concert to another and living a world of drugs, sex, and rock and roll. She is also keeping a dark secret from Liz. A year ago in the mountains, a girl named Karin disappeared and now it looks like the killer is back and determined to make sure no one knows what happened to her and discover their secret. What happens when the group of friends stumble upon the dark truth and in doing what is right, find themselves in the same situation Karin found herself in just before she was killed? The Hike by Lucy Clarke was a good mountain thriller and an easy read. Perfect for fans of the outdoors, hiking, and thrilling experiences.
