Review: Like Father, Like Son - Book #2 Ali Cross Series - James Patterson - June 2021

This was one title I had been waiting for ages to get my hands on and read, no longer working in the library - gone are the days when I got the first picks and also got to see what was released as soon as they came into the library. Recently, I decided to sign up for the Libby library app and OMG it is amazing I have been able to catch up on some of my favorite authors and their reads and discover new authors. One of my all-time favorites would still have to be James Patterson despite people saying he is overrated now and just pumps them out. One of my favorite James Patterson books is the Alex Cross series and in the tradition of authors like Harlan Coben and John Grisham as they released series with the children being the detectives. Ali Cross series is based on Alex Cross's youngest child and the one who is most like his father in terms of having a big heart as well as a passion for justice, doing what is right, and solving crimes no one else can. In Book #2 Like Father, Like Son - Ali and his friends sneak out to a music festival on the other side of the tracks where Ali knows he isn't supposed to be. He is there with his friends as Zoe's mother is one of the performers.  What will happen though is that Zoe will be shot and the only witness is Ali Cross. Ali wants to do the right thing but he has a crush on Zoe and she has sworn him to silence. He knows there is more to the story, but when he sees the police getting nowhere - he and his friends while Zoe is in hospital decide to do their investigations which will open Ali's eyes to the homeless situation and the police moving them on, etc. Can Ali do the right thing and save his friend but also do right by the police as his father is of course the famous Detective Alex Cross and his stepmother Bree is also a Detective with the MPD.  If you loved the Alex Cross series and want a more YA version to share with your tween/teen, then introduce them to Ali Cross by James Patterson.
