Review: Wreck the Halls - Tessa Bailey

Review: Wreck the Halls - Tessa Bailey - October 2023

This particular book comes with a funny story as I ended up with two copies of the title - one from the amazing HarperCollins NZ and the other from The Book Shoppe Box as it happened to be this year's Christmas Book Box Book and what better day to read it than on Christmas Day which I did. I knew I would love it as I am a big fan of Tessa Bailey's books and her quirkiness and characters tend to always hit the spot for me. I had the added bonus with this one too as being part of the Book Shoppe Box, on specific pages, I had lovely little gifts to open making the reading experience just that little bit more memorable this Christmas season. The book starts with two sixteen-year-olds Melody and Beat being interviewed and then the book jumps to the present time in December when they are both now 30 years old - well Melody is almost 30 as she is two months younger than Beat. 30 years ago, their mothers Octavia and Trina were known as The Steel Birds - a famous rock band and they made it big. That was until one day, they called it quits and never spoke about the band, each other, and the reason they quit. Now Beat and Melody have been approached by Danielle who wants to film a reality TV show about getting The Steel Birds reunited and the final episode is them playing together on-stage Christmas Eve - the payout is $1 Million Dollars which Beat needs as he is being blackmailed. Can Beat and Melody work together to get their mothers reunited for one more time and who knows even patch up a little of the past and will Beat and Melody also get a Christmas wish granted as sparks fly between the pair of them? Find out in this awesome Christmas read that everyone should have on their December reading lists - Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey. This book is also one that I could envision being made into a fun Hallmark Christmas feel-good film.
