This book has been on my bookshelf for a while now and I had kept meaning to read it, especially after reading Malibu Rising and seeing the introduction of Carrie Soto in the book when she ends up splitting Nina Riva's family by dating her husband Brendan. Ever since she was a little girl, Carrie was destined for big things and becoming a tennis prodigy. Her father an ex-tennis player himself, coached her until one day - her dad told her that it was alright to be second best, and after that Carrie changed coaches and got better and better. She was also nicknamed the Battle Axe and Cold-Hearted Carrie as she never showed emotions on the court and stuck to herself. One day she decided to quit tennis and now a new young player is threatening to beat Carrie's record. This sparks her to make a comeback, but is an aging tennis player at 35 and someone who hasn't played in years a good thing? Tennis has changed since she played and the females are more aggressive, can Carrie recondition her body and herself to beat players almost 10-15 years younger than herself? Or should Carrie admit that she is a has-been and make way for the new generation? Find out in this great sports romance/ comeback read - set between the 1960s to 1990s. Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. We also catch a glimpse during this book of her past and why Aiden King's father blames her for his mother's death and why Aiden considered Elsa a ghost. Review: Dr. Strange Beard - Book #5 Winston Brothers Series - Penny Reid - July 2018 If there is a family that I love to read about it has been the Winston Brothers. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments.
