Review: Win, Lose , Kill, Die - Cynthia Murphy - January 2022

I have always been a fan of boarding school mysteries and YA thrillers and this one was another great read. I hadn't read anything by this author before, but now she is one to keep an eye out on. The book starts with a head girl of a secret society Jewel and Bone being found dead in the lake - Morgan. It was ruled as an accident, but now with the new year - the replacement Head Girl has gotten a note that says it wasn't and she is next. Is this a threat to pay attention or is someone missing from the secret society? When more students die and it feels like the role of head girl is cursed, who will be next and will they want to step up for the role? This was one book where at the beginning I had an idea, but then it started to change about halfway through and then when the killer was revealed finally at the end - it was like, of course, I was right all along.  Cynthia Murphy though, proved that she is a great author as a great book and writer is one where you think you know but due to the story - you begin to doubt yourself. Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. We also catch a glimpse during this book of her past and why Aiden King's father blames her for his mother's death and why Aiden considered Elsa a ghost. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments.
