Review: My Favorite Second Chance - Book #2 The Lake Effects Series - Rue - March 2015

At the end of Book #1 we saw Gwen finally getting a happy ever after with Daniel and Rachel came out of the closet with her rockstar girlfriend Annie and all seemed to be going well. That however is all about to change in Book #2 of The Lake Effect Series as we discover that six years ago Gwen was engaged to a guy from the Marines and that when she told him she was pregnant , he ran off to serve for the country and she never heard from him again. Turns out that he has been held captive for the past six years and only wants one thing back , that is to be in the arms of Gwen as she is what has kept him trying to stay alive all this time. The thing is that Gwen has moved on with Daniel Gregory and is happy in her life , but what happens when Stephen re-appears - who will Gwen choose as she discovers that she loves both of them - but she can't have both of them or can she ? As the first book mainly focused on Gwen, the second book mainly has a focus on Rachel who it seems is about to lose , then win the two things in the world that she cares for the most when she is fired from her job a the Bakery and told to leave her house. What makes matters worst is that her girlfriend Annie is headed off tour as their band has been chosen to front for Prince and there is no way she is missing out on this opportunity. For Rachel, life just seems to be going from worse to worst days ever but even when one has hit rock bottom - often the only way from there is back up the ladder and readers Karma can often be a good thing , well in Rachel's case it is but what will her Karma reveal in the cards ?
Another great family drama/saga book by Rue that focuses on Sisterhood and that no matter what your parents or love life is like , you can always count on your sisters to have your back.

Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. We also catch a glimpse during this book of her past and why Aiden King's father blames her for his mother's death and why Aiden considered Elsa a ghost. Review: Dr. Strange Beard - Book #5 Winston Brothers Series - Penny Reid - July 2018 If there is a family that I love to read about it has been the Winston Brothers. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments.
