Review: Kismet - Amina Akhtar - August 2022

Growing up Ronnie, had a hard life after her parents died in an accident and left her to be raised by her horrible aunt who treated her like a slave. That was until thanks to Ronnie's boss and friend Farrah, Ronnie was treated to some lessons with a life coach Marley. Marley taught Ronnie some valuable lessons including how to come into herself and stand up for herself. This eventually gave Ronnie the courage to stand up to her aunt. She ended up selling her house and moving to Arizona with Marley to get a fresh start. Marley had wanted to move to Sedona, Phoenix as that's the place to be if you are wanting to live a spiritual new age life as the town is filled with crystals, healers, life coaches and an amazing and reputable Health Spa centre. The pair move and in their first week, go hiking and discover a dead body. Someone is killing frauds and scam artists and their defence is the "ravens told them too" as they see themselves cleansing the world of horrible evil people and spirits. As this is happening, we read about Ronnie's dreams of Ravens and the dead. The other thing that happens is the introduction of Caroline. Caroline has inserted herself into Marley and Ronnie's life and become Marley's new close friend. What happens though when Caroline starts to push Ronnie out of their circle and it looks like Marley and Caroline might be on the killer's hitlist? Find out in this cozy dark psychological thriller. I also found this one to be quite an easy-to-read book too and fast-paced which was nice. It is also the second book; I have read by this author as I read her previous thriller #fashionvictim.
