Review: Nobody Puts RomComs in the Corner - Kathryn Freeman - February 2023

I needed a bit of light reading after the thrillers and dark reads lately and I picked up off my bookshelf Kathyrn Freeman's latest "Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner". From the very front cover, I knew that if this book was done correctly that I would love and enjoy it and I did. This particular book is every romantic comedy fan's dream read. From the fact that the main character's names are Harry and Sally with Sally being our hopeless romantic and Harry being the cynical and skeptical one, the book title refers to the movie Dirty Dancing. The story is based around Harry coming to live with Sally after his ex refuses to move out of his house. Along the way, Sally suggests that they make some extra money filming iconic romantic comedy scenes on Tiktok and posting them on their Instagram. What starts as innocent fun though ends up spicing up especially when they do the Potter's wheel scene from Ghost and then the water scene from The Notebook. The thing though is Sally can't imagine herself with someone like Harry - a nonbeliever of love and the warm fuzzies, the whole nine yards. Can Harry prove to Sally that love is more than romantic comedy moments and that opposites do attract? If you are a movie fan and love sweet chick lit reading, then Kathryn Freeman's book is for you as it will also leave you wanting to rewatch some of your favorite scenes like the final Football Kiss on Never Been Kissed, the Heath Ledger singing scene on 10 Things I Hate About You and the makeover scene from She's All That.
