Review: The Second Life of Ava Rivers - Faith Gardner
Review: The Second Life of Ava Rivers - Faith Gardner - August 2018
Twelve years ago when Ava and
Vera were six years old, they went out trick or treating on Halloween. Their
older brother Elliot who was 12 at the time should have been looking after them
but instead, he went off and did his own thing. That night, only one of the
twins Vera returned home safely. Ava was gone forever and the case rocked their
small town then as time went by and no new leads the case became national news.
Now at 18, Vera is excited to be heading to Seattle to go to college and live
her life the way she wants it to be. No more people looking at her with sad
eyes and knowing that she is the other half of Ava or the twin nobody wanted to
steal. This is one of my favourite tropes to read and watch as it reminded me
of the MTV show Finding Carter - as she was a twin as well that was stolen and
then years later reunited with her family. In the present time, at 18 -
Vera's family receives shocking news, a young girl matching Ava's age and
description has turned up in the hospital. Her family rush and it's a happy
reunion, but where has she been for the past 12 years as life gets back on
track and Vera's family is finally happy - their world will be rocked again
when Ava's DNA test reveals something they weren't expecting. Can Vera say
goodbye to the sister she missed out on or has Ava's family received a second
chance in the new "Ava Rivers"? Find out in this amazing thriller and
family saga The Second Life of Ava Rivers which has now got me watching the
pilot episode of Finding Carter again. Another amazing book, if you love this
storyline to check out, is "Don't Call Me Greta" by Angie Stanton and
"Who is Sarah Randall?" by Gail Harris.
