Review : Woman of God - James Patterson and Maxine Paetro

Review: Woman of God - James Patterson and Maxine Paetro - September 2016

In the last few months, I have tried to make an effort to clear out my print bookshelf as I have had books sitting there for years like this particular one that had been there since 2016. It is funny though as it has been an interesting ride as most have turned out to be DNF but then I have had some that I sit there and think, why did it take me this long to read it? Woman of God was one of those books, I think it was the fact that it is something that neither of these two authors has ever ventured towards. Normally, they work only together on The Women's Murder Club which I continue to enjoy.  Woman of God was such a great read as it was fast-paced like the usual Patterson novel, but at the same time, it mixed romance, adventure, murder, death, and religion in a way that complimented each other. Woman of God starts with our main female character Brooke in Rome with her daughter, they have been invited as the new Pope is resigning. There have been rumors that the Pope met with Brooke as he wants her to be his successor, this has gotten some people's backs up as they believe a woman shouldn't ever be considered a Pope. There is an assassin attempt and then the book jumps back twenty years ago when Brooke was starting her career with Doctors without Borders - a charity NFP organization helping war-torn countries like Sudan. Throughout the novel, we follow Brooke's life and witness her heroic attempts, her losses, her tragedies, and her wins and how she got to this high-esteemed place today with her daughter. If you love Christian fiction with an edgy twist, then Woman of God by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro needs to be at the top of your list as it was just as brilliant as their esteemed series "The Women's Murder Club".
