Review: After We Collided - Anna Todd

Review: After We Collided - Book #2 After Series - Anna Todd - November 2014
This series firstly though it is set in the College Fiction level, I found the writing style more Young Adult rather than New Adult and readers, though this book looks daunting as it is a big book at nearly 700 pages , it was an amazing love/hate relationship story and once you get into the story you will not notice the number of pages. This is a book series that has to be read in absolute order as otherwise you will not understand the flow and relationship of Hardin and Tessa aka #Hessa. This review is quite hard for me to write as I am filled with a multitude of emotions after finishing the book as some of the pages made me hate Hardin as I was like What on earth are you doing, Hardin ? If you love her, then stop messing everything up as he is quite a rocky character that in a way his personality does resemble that of both Heathcliff and Gatsby - Hardin is your typical Lord Byronic Hero. Then for Tessa, ok - so Hardin messed her around and humilated her and betrayed her trust , but can't you see how much he cares for you and that he loves you. Her character annoyed me, as she took forever to forgive Hardin and she may not trust him fully but she doesn't have to treat him horribly and play games with him . I could understand her betrayal and hurt , but leading him on and playing games with him when the reader knows that Hardin's mind is quite fragile - was more downright cruel. Personally, I love Hardin's character as in a way he reminded me of a friend whose personality in some ways was similar and for me, I could tell strongly that Hardin loved Tessa but he just could not show it properly as he didn't know how too. He was so damaged that he didn't know how to love, he thought he was worthless and needed someone to love him - for every aspect of him.
After we Collided by Anna Todd is a book that readers will find in parts difficult to continue but once you get over the humps in the book and the back and forthing of their love/hate relationship then you will be pleased you finished the book.
Readers do need to know that After We Collided by Anna Todd is not a Love Story but a true Love/Hate Relationship. Their will be patches of love , strong feelings of hatred , anger and insecurities.
This is also a series, where though you have to read the books in order - you can't read the series one after another straight away. The After series is a series where you have to take your time and relax in between books otherwise it will be too much for any reader to handle.
