Needing a good thriller and I do enjoy stories based around Nannies, I pulled up my kindle and came across The Nanny by Gilly Macmillan. The book starts 30 years ago in 1988 when a young Jocelyn wakes up to discover her nanny Hannah gone. This played a big part in her life as Hannah was like a second mother to her as she grew up in a household of wealth and staff and parents who acted as they tolerated her, especially her mother. Now thirty years later, Jocelyn is back and in tow, her daughter as her husband has now passed and Jocelyn's mother is getting older and alone in the house all by herself. For Jocelyn, the memories here aren't all wonderful and she did vow never to come back.  One day Ruby and Jocelyn are out on the lake when they find a skull.  Jocelyn's mother Virginia acts like it is a historical artifact but the truth is that the skull is 30 years old.  Virginia believes it is their nanny Hannah whose body they dumped, but what happens when Hannah turns up alive just as they find the body and she is an older woman. Jocelyn feels happy that Hannah is back and hires her to help with her daughter. Hannah though has some dark secrets and we learn that Jocelyn has repressed memories of the events that surrounded Hannah's disappearance 30 years ago. I have to say, I did wonder if the "new" Hannah was someone else but then when we learn it is the same Hannah - we discover the truth about what happened that night and it looks like Hannah is back for her revenge - this time instead of using Jocelyn as a pawn - she has Ruby in mind. The Nanny like most books written by British authors and set in the UK, the story is slow-paced and takes a bit of time to get to the point but overall was a good twisted read that makes you realize that not all Nannies were like Mary Poppins and Fran Drescher.

Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. We also catch a glimpse during this book of her past and why Aiden King's father blames her for his mother's death and why Aiden considered Elsa a ghost. Review: Dr. Strange Beard - Book #5 Winston Brothers Series - Penny Reid - July 2018 If there is a family that I love to read about it has been the Winston Brothers. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments.
