The Night Season

Review : The Night Season - Chelsea Cain - March 2011

Reading the Book Blogger Question , not the week that's just been but the week before on "Who is your favourite book villan" got me remembering about this book - the 4th book in the Beauty Killer series as one of the bloggers mentioned that her favourite villian happened to be Gretchen Lowell which is the Beauty Killer's real name in Chelsea Cain's books.
In The Night Season we catch glimpses of Gretchen as she awaits her death row trial after her escape from prison and then her recapture. However unlike Chelsea's previous books this one focuses on a past murder of sorts and a new one - one that has connections to both from characters to tales . It also seemed somewhat appropiate with the main theme of this book besides the characters being poisoned , that the incidents in which these people died were from drowning and floods due to the fact that we are currently around the world experiencing natural disasters of sorts. When Henry, Archie's cop partner is poisoned by the killer and left dead - is this the final goodbye for Henry Sobol or will it overcome like the tough cop he is and of course I got a chuckle as my favourite character from Chelsea's books Susan Ward - this is due to the fact that she is a journalist but also she loves to dye her hair different and bright colours . In this book she explains to readers that the hair dye she used in Manic Panic Deadly Nightshade, this made me smile as the colour of my hair is Manic Panic Wildfire.
A fun mystery novel brought to you by Chelsea Cain, an enjoyable read - however if you are reading Chelsea Cain for the sake of Gretchen -you won't enjoy The Night Season as I said previously Gretchen is a very minor character -other than that The Night Season was an awesome read and fast-paced.
