Review: The Dead Girls Club - Damien Angelica Walters

Review: The Dead Girls Club - Damien Angelica Walters - December 2019

This book captured my attention with the beautiful floral cover and the title. The book starts with Heather receiving in the mail, a half heart of a best friend's necklace. She recognized the necklace from her childhood. The other half of the necklace belonged to Heather's childhood best friend Becca. We learn that Becca was murdered when she was a child and that Heather was involved. The book jumps back to when Heather, Becca, and their two other friends Gia and Rachael were 14 years old and had a love for true crime and urban legends, the girls loved it so much that they would host a group called The Dead Girls Club and would discuss different serial killers like Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy.  This book is a past/present novel as we read the events leading up to Becca's death and then the present time where Heather is trying to remember the details about what happened and also who knows the dark truth about what happened that summer. The Dead Girls Club by Damien Angelica Walters was a very good read and perfect for fans who love true crime, mysteries, and urban legends as one of the main stories in this book is one called "The Red Lady"- a witch who reminded me a cross between Bloody Mary and Sarah from RL Stine's Fear Street Series.
