Review: Betrayed - Book #2 Rosato and DiNunzio Series - Lisa Scottoline - November 2014

One of the few female mystery/law writers that I have come to love over the years is Lisa Scottoline. She has written a couple of stand-alones, but most of her books fall into the Rosato and Associates series. You would have noticed though that on her second to latest book "Accused" that the series changed to Rosato and DiNunzio. This is because Mary DiNunzio has finally made partner in the lawyer firm. In Betrayed, this book focuses on one of the employees Judy whose life seems to be unravelling in front of her and she is left wondering who she is and what she is really doing. Now that her friend Mary has made partner, she knows that things are going to change and that Mary will have to take Bernie's side more often as it becomes a game of lawyer office politics. Though, she didn't expect it to happen this quickly when she is dumped with seventy plus cases of damage suits due to toxic mould which made me giggle a bit as currently my job is going through the toxic mould part with our teen area being closed, but due to it being in New Zealand - we are the land that hardly ever sues and especially not over something as little and pointless as toxic mould. Just as Judy is about to settle in to her job, her boyfriend turns up and it seems he can never do anything right and Judy is left with the decision - to keep him or let him go, then her Aunt Barb calls to let her know that she is sick and has breast cancer. Judy arrives and of course her mother is there and that always leads to argumentville. During this brief time , Judy meets her Aunt's best friend Iris who later turns up dead and soon Judy will find herself on a wild goose chase and hunt along with Barb to discover who killed Iris. Though they better be careful as it seems the killer is now after Judy and her Aunt if they aren't careful. What's a girl gotta do when her whole life turns upside down ? Can Judy stay strong or will she find herself overwhelmed and feeling betrayed by everyone who she thought cared about her or was her friends and readers, keep reading till the last chapter as a surprise twist occurs at Rosato and DiNunzio which will leave readers wondering what the next chapter in the lawyer's firm will be .
