Review: Ella Says .... I'm Not Afraid of the Dark - Anu D. Misa - January 2019

In this cute little picture book, we meet Ella. Ella and her dog Ollie are the best of friends and love to play together. One day, the pair of them are out playing and having lots of fun when Ella notices the sky is getting a tad darker and then splat, she feels something fall on her head. Unsure what it is, the pair of them continue to play and go deeper into the woods and then more splats hit her and she discovers it is raining and now it is looking very dark. Ella and Ollie are scared at first, but with the help of some animal friends in the wood, Ella and Ollie will not only find their way back home after they end up lost but together, they will learn with the help of their new friends not to be afraid of the dark. Ella Says... I'm not Afraid of the Dark is the perfect book for teaching children to be brave and that night-time and dark are not something to be scared of.  Ella Says is the perfect read for children aged 5-9 years old and can also serve as a beginning chapter book.
