Review: Cancelled - Farrah Penn - March 2024

You ever get in those moods where you want to read something, but the books you keep picking up, just don't hold your interest, and then wham bam - third time lucky. You find a book that isn't just holding your interest but it's an amazing read and turns out to be a 5-star read. That was me on Saturday morning with Cancelled by Farrah Penn. I first tried a couple of thrillers on the Libby App and then clicked on this book and loved it. Imagine the movies Easy A and Saved and you will have Cancelled. The book starts with our main female Brynn being a flirting coach and a bit of a Cyrano De Bergerac as she helps people write the perfect flirting messages and she's great at it too. That is until at a Halloween party, she not only breaks up with her boyfriend but someone has taken a picture of a person in a banana suit giving a guy a BJ. The guy is Duncan who is the boyfriend of Brynn's ex-best friend Lenora. Brynn is innocent but as she finds out at school on Monday, no one believes her how can the flirting queen and serial dater be innocent? The thing too is that Brynn is still a virgin as having sex is painful for her. Brynn gets labeled a slut and relationship wrecker among other things and finds herself the center of attention for the wrong reasons. She is determined to clear her name along with the help of her close friends and two new friends Charlie and Cadence. The ones who believe her. As she does this, she will also inadvertently create a feminist revolution club, go up against the Abstinence Angels ( this was the part that reminded me of the two films), and also help other females stand up for what is right and for all those times they have been dismissed by a male or told they were a distraction.  Cancelled by Farrah Penn were an amazing read and a book that I suggest every female who has ever felt attacked for being themselves should read.
