Review: Electric Idol - Book #2 Dark Olympus Series - Katee Robert - January 2022

This particular series has been on my list to read for a couple of years as I do enjoy stories based around the gods and goddesses and mostly Greek history. I even studied as part of my degree in Humanities. This series is a darker side of the Gods and Goddesses and thinking about it probably the closest as we have read that most of them weren't nice people especially those in the inner circles who held most of the power. In Electric Idol, the start is a party where women are introduced and paraded around the new Zeus aka the former Perseus as he needs a new bride and that female will become the new Hera. In Dark Olympus, we learn some of the roles are inherited and others are born into. Demeter is showing off her daughter Psyche as a potential bride for Zeus. Psyche isn't interested and would rather be in the shadows. I also loved her character, she was a favorite of mine and one that I felt I could relate to, right through the whole story. While running off to escape the party, she bumps into Eros. Eros is known as a killer who does his mum's bidding. He is bleeding and needs help, so Psyche does what she believes is right and helps him. Eros is surprised at how big of a heart she has and the genuineness of her spirit.  Even more, he loves how she doesn't look at him like an evil monster. Aphrodite who is Eros's mother has a vengeance against Demeter and hates that her daughter has been seen with her son, so she tells Eros to kill her. Eros can't bring himself to kill her so he does the next best thing he can think to protect her - ask her hand in marriage. What will begin as a marriage to survive and stay alive will soon be a marriage of romance and love as Psyche's love and kindness appeal and softens Eros hard shell and make him realize he wants her forever, just as Hades had wanted Persephone aka Psyche's sister. I am now looking forward to reading the other books in the Dark Olympus Series also this book will make you hate Aphrodite with a vengeance.
