Review: Home is Where The Bodies Are - Jeneva Rose -April 2024

After reading You Shouldn't Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose and enjoying the twists and turns, I was excited to read her new book Home is Where the Bodies Are. I also loved the whole cover idea of a video cassette as well. At present time, Beth's mum Laura has just passed away and now she has had to call her siblings who she hasn't seen in a long time back home. Nicole has drug addiction problems and Michael left home seven years ago and never returned. He left shortly after their Dad disappeared in 2015. Laura's last words to Beth though "Your Dad didn't disappear, Don't Trust". Who isn't she supposed to trust and if her dad didn't disappear, then where has he been for the past seven years? The siblings arrive home and as they are pulling down boxes from the attic - they come across some of their mum's home videos - one from June 15th, 1999. The day that Emma Harper vanished without a trace and now on the tape, it shows her parents were involved. But how can that be? Her parents aren't killers or are they? At the time Beth was dating Emma's brother Lucas and now she has a second chance with him, but can she date him knowing that her parents were behind the disappearance of his sister? She needs to know the truth about what happened with Emma, but as the siblings delve deeper - will they like what they find or will it open a bigger can of worms as a series of past missing people start to be uncovered? Find out in this thriller that will have you wanting to dig out your VHSs or create your own Blair Witch Project and yes, I am showing my age. I am now looking forward to the next great thing Jeneva Rose will release.
