Baking Me Crazy (Donner Bakery, #1)

Review: Baking Me Crazy - Book #1 Donner Bakery - Karla Sorensen - October 2019

I have been looking very forward to reading the books released from Smartypants Romance as it meant that we could go back into the heart of Green Valley where the Winston Brothers series was set and be reunited in the background with some of our favorite loved characters. In Baking Me Crazy by Karla Sorensen, we meet the Buchanan family and in particular the youngest son Levi. The men in his family have a curse when they meet "the one" they will know and never be able to love fully again as they are devoted to that one person. Sometimes it works out and sometimes sadly it doesn't. For Levi, his "one" happens to be his new best friend Jocelyn Abernathy aka Joss. He first met her five years ago when she arrived in town to live with her mother in their grandmother's old house. Back then, she wasn't ready to date as she was just getting used to her life in a wheelchair and she needed a friend. Levi took what he could and became her friend. Fast forward five years and he is still in the friend zone hoping she might develop date feelings for him.  Joss has just got her first job working at Donner Bakery which is owned by Jennifer Winston aka Cletus's Wife. Here she meets a customer and her new PT Andy and starts to develop feelings for him. Has Levi missed his chance or will this now make him up his ante as he tries to win Joss over to his side? This was a cutesy romance story except I have to admit, I did get a bit annoyed with how much Joy gushed over Cletus. It's like we get it, you have a crush on him but he's married and loves Jennifer, so move on and find someone else.  I did feel for Levi's older brother Hunter too and hope he can eventually man-up and leave Samantha as everyone deserves to be happy in love.  I am now looking forward to reading the rest of the Smartypants Romance books that are published and released and I look forward to more Green Valley adventures.
