Top Ten Tuesday : Pet Names

Top 100 Most Popular Male And Female Dog Names - DogTime

Today's TTT is Pet Names. As someone who lived in a household with a few animals and parents that loved unusual names for pets, I loved this prompt and it also brought back some good memories.
(All the animals names below are real)

1. Manuska - Unsure of spelling as I was only 3- 7 years old when we had this dog but it was a female Doberman and her name was Russian and translated into "Mother of Dogs".

2. Ariel - This was my Cat's name when I was five years old as I was a big Little Mermaid fan.

3. Flounder - Yes, I had a fish at five as well and of course you couldn't have Ariel without Flounder.

4.  Sigmund Freud - this was when we first moved to a farm in 1996 and we had one pig and he was named Sigmund Freud and yes, we eventually ate Sigmund Freud.

5. Picasso - our next dog we ended up getting from a puppy was a Belgian Skippedee crossed with a Chihuahua and he was a nice black puppy and very tiny. Mum named him after the famous painter.

6.  Hercules
- We then moved onto a new farm at about 1997 and got a load of farm animals. Hercules was our Bull ( a male cow)

7. Petunia and Porky  - We got given a new pig and the female largest pig was called Petunia and one of her piglets she later had was called Porky Pig named after my favourite Looney Tunes Character.

8. Olive Oyl and Popeye - These were our two goats on the farm.

9. Ezekiel -
When then moved to Tauranga in 1999 and recieved a new dog as we had to give Picasso away in 1998 when we moved to Masterton. Ezekiel was named after the Prophet in the Bible and was the runt of the litter and then ended up the biggest and best looking dog. When my Dad would watch Creflo A Dollar, Benny Hinn - we they would put their hands up to pray , our dog would go to the TV screeen and place his paws on their hands. He sadly died as our neighbours at the time were evil and poisoned him.

10. Braveheart - My mum loved the Mel Gibson movie and also had a love of Scotland as she came from the Gordon clan and so we got a cute Japanese Spitz - he did have a Japanese name on his birth certificate as he was a purebred but we called him Braveheart. He sadly died of a mixture of old age/ kidney failure.

  4. Braveheart reminded me of Hachiko - have you seen that movie? Made me cry buckets of tears. If I ever get a pet, it will be THAT dog. Sigh.

  7. It's neat that you used your own animals. Seems like you had many different critters growing up. Of course, you just can't have an Olive Oyl, without a popeye. Too bad about Ezekiel, someone needs to poison them, and see how they like it!!!! Here's my list if you're interested. If not, that's fine as well. Have a great day!!
