The Girl Who Ran With Horses - David Michael

Todays Book is Book #3 out of 20 in the Gilmore Girl Challenge , and what Ive decided from now on to do with my challenges is to add alongside a quote from the theme of the challenge and since this is part of Gilmore Girls - Here's another quote for you.

[Luke has hired a new waiter]

Rory: Oh, my god.
Lorelai: What?
Rory: He hired Brennon Lewis.
Lorelai: And?
Rory: Ew!
Lorelai: He doesn't look that bad.
Rory: He's the boy who dissected a frog, did not wash his hands, and then ate a sandwich.
Lorelai: Ew!
Rory: He's like the lost Farrelly brother. He's so stupid. He watched 'The Breakfast Club' and decided to tape his own butt cheeks together

The Girl Who Ran With Horses

Review: The Girl Who Ran with Horses - David Michael - 2010

Are you a fan of the horse movies Flicka , The Black Stallion, Dreamer , Thunderhead and National Velvet and the Original Flicka movie "My Friend Flicka"? What about enjoying books in the tradition of Horse Mad , Saddle Club, Pony Pals etc.?
If so, then David Michael's book "The Girl who Ran with Horses " is the perfect read for you. Its Summertime and all should be like it has been in the past, a nice lovely scorching summer on the ranch with her family, the horses and the wind in her hair. However this year, for 13 yr old Stevie Buckbee things have changed and for the worst. After a tragedy occurs in her family and Stevie loses her brother , things in her household start going downhill. So this year, her dad thinks it is best that she spends some time with her Aunt and Uncle. When she returns home from her holiday, Stevie can't wait to reconnect with the horses on the ranch and with her Dad and Brother. But things aren't that great on the ranch and with her family. The ranch has been neglected and Stevie feels like she cannot get through to her family. Soon Stevie does the only thing she knows how to do , she starts training her horse Jack Rabbit and discovers that she  has a similiar gift to Doctor Doolittle, she can communicate with the horses through her thoughts. With this ability will she be able to turn her families life back on track or will she discover that though she can talk to the horses, they aren't like humans?
The Girl who ran with horses is such a touching and heart-warming story about a 13yr old girls journey to save the things that she loves and that with the help of some animal friends she may just be able to come out on top and help the ones she truly loves to discover that though they lost, it's not the end of the world. In this book, in places your eyes will tear up not just with the emotions of sadness that Stevie feels but with the joys that she also experiences.
