Review: Lying Out Loud - Kody Keplinger

Review: Lying Out Loud - Book #4 Hamilton High Series - Kody Keplinger - April 2015
Remember the movie The DUFF
with Wesley and Bianca? Lying out Loud takes us back to their high school and
the main two characters are Sonny and Amy. Amy happens to be Wesley's younger
sister and he and Bianca also appear in this story, so it was cool to see that
they did get a happily ever after - after high school. This book takes on a
modern twist of Cyrano De Bergerac as we have our main male character, Ryder.
Ryder and Sonny are at odds ends and they seem to bring out the worst in each
other and he happens to have the biggest crush on Amy - his version of Miss
Perfect. Sonny has a habit of lying which gets her into lots of trouble
throughout the novel and the cause of the story. It starts innocently where she
pretends to be Amy and chats to Ryder.Ryder soon replies and the pair start
talking and getting to know one another. Sonny really should confess and stop,
but she finds herself pretending to be Amy. When things start to complicate and
Sonny starts falling head over heels for Ryder, she confesses to Amy what she
has done. Now the pair must find a way to work together to get Ryder to hate
Amy and fall in love with Sonny. What will happen though when the truth
explodes and everyone involved gets hurt because of the lies and secrecy? Can
the friendships/romance repair or will it be destroyed? Find out in Lying Out
Loud by Kody Keplinger - a fun yet edgy YA read.
