You Have a Match

Review: You Have A Match - Emma Lord - January 2021

When Abby's best friend Leo who was adopted from the Philippines decides to take a DNA test to learn more about himself and his family, Abby being supportive takes one too. However, when Abby gets her results back, it turns out she has a full-sister. How can this be when she is supposed to be the oldest and her family has never mentioned that they had a baby two years before her? It is soon discovered once Abby searches that her sister Savannah is 18 and an Instagram influencer and the poster girl for healthy eating and a strict rule follower - everything that Abby isn't. The pair meet up and click and decide to come up with a plan to spend the summer together as it turns out Savannah is a camp counselor at the SAT camp her parents have been eager to send her to. Abby jumps at the opportunity as she wants to get to know her sister, but what happens when she realizes that maybe her fantasy is nowhere near her reality. This was an average YA read overall as I was a bit disappointed with the reasoning behind Savannah's adoption and it felt a bit of weak reasoning. I was drawn to reading this book as I have always been fascinated with DNA tests and have actually ordered my test from Ancestry DNA last week and looking forward to the results.
