Review: Turkey Monster Thanksgiving - Anne Warren Smith- September 2011
Living in New Zealand , we don't celebrate Thanksgiving , so I am always fascinated by stories and tales of Thanksgiving because I believe it is an awesome idea to give thanks and acknowledge those who we came from. Turkey Monster Thanksgiving is the perfect story for girls aged 7-9yrs and follows the story of Katie . Every Thanksgiving, since Katie's mum left to become a famous country singer has been them in their pyjamas all day, eating pizza and watching the big football game on TV - just the three of them Katie, Her dad and baby brother Tyler. However this year , Katie is suddenly aware that they are not having a proper thanksgiving as Claire - a girl who Katie walks home with -her and her father are putting on a big Thanksgiving Dinner for forty people. Katie feeling a bit left out and jealous decides to throw her own party but when things get a bit out of hand as Katie doesn't tell her dad till last minute , it seems that the thanksgiving may be a disaster and especially since Katie has gotten the thought into Tyler's head that Turkeys are really monsters in disguise that eat little boys. Can Katie with the help of her dad turn their small Thanksgiving meal into a dinner with a few friends or will it turn to Disaster ?
