Review: Prom and Prejudice- Elizabeth Eulberg- January 2011
"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single girl of high standing at Longburn Academy must be in want of a prom date".
Are you a fan of Jane Austen's Tale "Pride and Prejudice"- one of the most famously used classic novels in today's society. There have been probably hundreds of books written using the basis of Jane Austen's collection of 8 novels. I love the tale of Pride and Prejudice with the outspoken and down to earth Lizzie Bennett and the Pompous Mr William Darcy who turns out to actually be quite the romantic at heart and because Im just so fascinated with the whole MB (myer-briggs) TI , I googled to see what they have classified Darcy and Lizzie as and Darcy is an INTJ and Lizzie an INFJ.
Prom and Prejudice takes us to the Private schools of Longburn Academy for Girls and Pemberley Academy for Boys. It's that time again for the event of the season - Prom and at Longburn Academy, the Prom is the social standing invitation of the year. We see familiar names in familiar roles as we have Lizzie Bennett - a scholarship student at Longburn Academy, her friend Charlotte Lucas - the other scholarship student , Jane and her sister Lydia - Lizzie's friends , Charles and Caroline Bingley , Will Darcy, Will Fitzpatrick, Wick aka George Wickham , Georgiana and Colin. All names that we are familiar with. The story starts with Jane in love with Charles Bingley - Lizzie being the gracious friend accompanies Jane to a dance where she meets Darcy and as soon as he finds out she is a scholarship student , it is downhill from there. Angry at herself for thinking Darcy was different , Lizzie throws herself into her work at the local Java Hutt where she meets Wick - Darcy's ex-best friend - eager to think he is just like her, she befriends him putting the rift between her and Darcy even wider. As the tale goes on , we see that maybe Lizzie did misjudge Darcy and that the two of them are perfect together or as they are only in school - for now. Will Will Darcy escort Lizzie to the Prom or does he know better than to ask her ?
Will Lizzie's Pride as a Scholarship student and Will's prejudice against them stand in their way of connecting or will a connection be still possible to form?
